JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
At Bellville Golf Club, we understand the importance of developing players for the future. We also believe in giving back to the community and creating opportunities for those less fortunate than ourselves.
Golf is one of the only sports in the world where players of all ages, genders and skill levels can compete on an equal footing and our Junior Development Programme aims to introduce a new generation of golfers to the game. The Bellville GC Junior Development Programme is a 24-week programme that we have launched in partnership with the Paul Mackenzie Junior Academy.
Helping Future Golfers Grow
The programme is specifically designed to develop underprivileged junior golfers who show the potential to perform well in the game of golf and create a better future for themselves.
The main aim of the programme is to identify 4 Juniors, 2 boys and 2 girls, to take part in the programme.
The 24-week programme prepares these juniors to play in the Bridge Fund Junior Series as well as Western Province Open Tournaments. They attend 2 training sessions per week. The sessions will take place at Bellville GC or at The Golf Village in Tygervalley. We will focus on all aspects of the game, from Tee to Green.
We fund our Junior Development Programme through the Western Province Golf Union Rand-a-Round programme.
We collect this money for every round played at Bellville GC and pay it over to the WPGU who administer the fund.
Our goal is to grow a strong junior golf squad, out of which we will select our junior league teams for the future.
We Couldn’t Have Done It Without You
We would like to thank the committee, club members, staff, as well as Paul Mackenzie and Werner for making the programme possible and allowing children the opportunity to be part of a programme that develops them as junior members of the Bellville Golf Club and as individuals.
